I found out just by chance about a while ago that it was possible in certain circumstances to get assistance with travel costs to/from home and a place of employment.
Prior to that, I had only ever aspired to work within a manageable journey from my home - which made me pretty much limited.
Consequently, I'm not doing what is pretty much a dream job for me at this current point in my life - but there is NO WAY I could have been doing this job - and making a real difference for my organisation - without the help of access to work. Because of the location of my workplace with respect to my home, the journey would have been unsafe and unmanageable.
Yes, I have to contribute too - equivalent to the cost of the public transport I'd have had to pay - but its nothing short of life transforming!
They are also able to provide various levels of funding towards adaptive equipment.

My local people were brilliant, committed, helpful and caring - and they actually helped me to overcome the difficulties my eye condition presented, and to succeed on a level playing field. Marvelous!
